College Bound Pledge RenewalFrom the office of Paul Kelly, HERO Advisor, PAHS, College Success Foundation, Washington State:

During the week on February 5 – 12, Port Angeles High School held our second annual College Bound re-pledge event during advisory in the library and each day a different class came down. Monday/freshman, Tuesday/sophomores, Thursday/juniors, and Friday/seniors.

We reminded the students that they have signed up for this scholarship program, as well as reviewed the program requirements. After the presentation about the scholarship, the students signed a large banner to symbolically pledge to go to college after high school and use the scholarship.

The College Bound scholarship is a need-based scholarship for students in the state of Washington. Students apply during 7th or 8th grade and if they graduate with a 2.0 GPA, fill out the FAFSA application, and get accepted into a college, the scholarship will cover any unmet tuition need.

the College Bound Scholarship is a state level scholarship that students apply for in 7th or 8th grade. It is need based, and so the students supply their household income with the application. If they fall within the right range, they are eligible for the scholarship. The scholarship is worth 4 years of tuition to over 60 schools across the state of Washington, as well as a few in neighboring states.
