PAHS Scholarship Awards Night

PAHS Scholarship Awards Night
Posted on 05/23/2019
PAHS Scholarship Awards NightThere was a celebratory atmosphere in the Performing Arts Center on the evening of May 14, as 148 Port Angeles High School seniors received a total of $3,618,371 in scholarships for post-secondary studies.  According to Jeani Hill, guidance secretary and organizer of the event, $451,004 of the total amount was funded by local sources. This was the 74th scholarship awards night for PAHS.

As each scholarship recipient was called to the stage, their scholarship awards were read aloud by Principal Jeff Clark, as well as their future choice of school and field of study.

After the ceremony, students and their families attended a reception in the Student Center where they had the opportunity to interact with representatives from the 130 scholarship donor organizations.

“Scholarship Awards Night is the culmination of a 4-month process, beginning with students turning in their scholarship notebooks in early February and ending with the publication of the scholarship information in the newspaper after graduation,” said Hill.  “This year we transitioned to digital notebooks, which was well received by both students and donors.”

“Groups and individuals in our community have been very generous in providing scholarships for Port Angeles students to pursue their post high school goals, and with the cost of post-secondary education and training these days, every little bit helps,” said Principal Jeff Clark.
